Harris named to the top seven in 'Good Morning America' Advice Guru search
Jan. 4, 2011
Fran Harris, national champion and UT Women's Hall of Honor member, was selected Tuesday as one of the top seven finalists for the "Good Morning America" Advice Guru search.
GMA's next task is called the Guru Daily Duel, an online reality challenge running from Wednesday, Jan. 5 to Wednesday, Jan. 12. Each day, two guru candidates will face off online answering a viewer question. Viewers are encouraged to weigh in on who they think is delivering great advice.
Harris will participate in the first duel on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
"This contest has been so much fun," Harris said. "From 15,000 applicants to the top 20 and now the top seven, what an honor."
Harris, who also won a championship with the WNBA Houston Comets, is no stranger to competition, having competed against the best athletes around the world. But it's her tenure in the world of television and life coaching that she feels gives her an added advantage in the guru race. She recently hosted HGTV's "Home Rules," a show about home and life renovation.
"For the past 10 years I've worked specifically with families and individuals to help them get their lives back on track," Harris said. "Winning this contest would give me a greater opportunity to continue my life's work."
