Women's Basketball completes WBI Tip Off Classic with 72-52 win over Hofstra

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Texas Women's Basketball team improved to 2-0 on the young 2012-13 season with an emphatic 72-52 victory over the Hofstra Pride on Saturday afternoon at the WBI Tip Off Classic. Sophomore Nneka Enemkpali followed up her 25-point, 12-rebound double-double to kick off the season against St. John's on Friday with a 26-point, 10-rebound performance to lead the Longhorns again on Saturday. Junior Chassidy Fussell put up similarly strong numbers, recording 18 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Longhorns were again impressive on the boards, outrebounding Hofstra 62-31. UT and Hofstra traded scoring runs in the first half with neither team leading by more than five points. Texas took control on the boards for the second straight game, outrebounding the Pride 32-15 heading into halftime, but still found itself down by four. Enemkpali scored 13 first-half points to pace the Longhorns. Texas turned it on in the second half, opening the period with a 24-6 run to grab an 11-point lead. The Longhorns would only extend that lead, sparking an 18-4 run beginning at the 8:53 mark to go up 22. Shante Evans led the Pride with 15 points and six rebounds while Candave Bond added 10 points of her own. Deven Green added six boards.
