Women's Basketball falls to Kansas, 85-61
Feb. 8, 2012 LAWRENCE, Kan. - Chassidy Fussell scored 22 points, but the Texas Women's Basketball team was overwhelmed by the Kansas Jayhawks on Wednesday night at Allen Fieldhouse. Kansas went on a 16-2 run early in the first half took a 17-point lead with 6:04 remaining in the period. Texas eventually got within three points early in the second but would get no closer as the Jayhawks stretched their lead to as many as 26. KU's Angel Goodrich set a Kansas all-time single-game record for assists with 16 and also scored 16 points. Aishah Sutherland led all players with 24 points and 12 rebounds and Carolyn Davis added 18. Yvonne Anderson and Ashleigh Fontenette also finished in double figures for the Longhorns, contributing 10 points each. KU shot 57.6 percent on the game to the Longhorns' 35.9 percent. Texas was just 8-for-35 from the field in the second half. The Longhorns return home to the Erwin Center to take on the Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Saturday at 7 p.m.
