Canned food drive planned for Friday's Soccer match
Oct. 8, 2012
Not only are Texas Longhorns fans passionate and respectful, they are generous. Over the past six years at UT Athletics events, loyal UT fans have donated more than 20,000 pounds of food to the Central Texas community. UT Athletics is asking for its fans to step up once again. UT Athletics and Whataburger have teamed up to give fans the opportunity to fight hunger by donating non-perishable food items at the Texas Soccer vs. Texas Tech match on Friday, Oct. 12 at 5:30 p.m. Donations will be accepted on gameday beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field. Fans who donate five non-perishable food items receive a Texas Sports DVD and a coupon for a FREE Whataburger. Collection takes place at the UT Athletics table located near the Gate 1 entrance (northeast corner of Myers Stadium). Fans must purchase a ticket to the match in order to receive the DVD and coupon (offer based on availability). Purchase tickets online at TexasSports.com or by calling the UT Athletics Ticket Office at (512) 471-3333. UT Athletics canned food drives are part of the Horns for Hope initiative for community enrichment.
