University/College Women's 800-Meter Champion
Nachelle Stewart, BYU
On her first trip to Austin and winning her first Texas Relays event: It is really exciting. It was beautiful here today. I heard that it is snowing back in Utah right now, so it was wonderful to come out here on a sunny day and perform the way I did. Initially, I didn't want to be in the lead because of this wind, but I just took off and did the best I could. I'm really proud of my performance.

On defending his 800-meter crown: I feel great. I came back to defend my meet record today. I've had a heel injury recently, so I wasn't able to train for the past three weeks, so it feels even better to be able to win again. I can't describe the feeling.
University/College Women's 5,000-Meter Champion
Kathya Garcia, UTEP
On pulling out the victory in the last 100 meters: I tried to conserve my energy as much as I could throughout the race, and I think the runners in my pack ran out of energy towards the end. Luckily, my strategy paid off for me and I was able to sprint the last 100 meters as fast as I could and pull out the victory.

Samuel Kosgei, Lamar
On winning the race after leading the entire time: I was feeling good. However, it was really windy on the straights and I had no one to trail behind, so it was difficult on those parts. It was hard to keep the same pace because of that.
On what it means to win as a senior: It's a special win for me, because it's probably my last time to compete here. I'm excited that I won, and I'm looking forward to training and getting ready to run the 10K at Stanford in May.
