2012 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays set for March 28-31
Jan. 24, 2012 AUSTIN, Texas -- The 2012 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by State Farm is set to take place March 28-31 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin. The Texas Relays begin with the first event on Wednesday, March 28 at 11:30 a.m. with the start of the women's heptathlon. The men's decathlon starts shortly after at noon. On Thursday, March 29, the action kicks off at 11 a.m. with the continuation of the decathlon while the heptathlon resumes at noon. The field events get started at 12:30 p.m. with the women's hammer throw. Also taking place on Thursday is the men's and women's javelin, men's pole vault and men's hammer throw. The first running events of the weekend start at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with the women's 400m hurdles. Those races are followed by the men's 400m hurdles, the 4x800m relays, 1,500m run, high school and college steeplechase and 5,000m run. While the events are taking place Thursday evening, the annual fish fry occurs from 6:30-9 p.m. Friday's morning session features preliminary rounds of the 4x100m relay, 100 and 110m hurdles, 100m dash and 4x400m relay. For the field events, the javelin, long jump, women's high jump, women's pole vault and shot put also take place. The afternoon session includes the triple jump, discus, men's high jump and triple jump for field events at the college level. The high school events are the pole vault, discus, boy's high jump, 100m hurdles, 100m run and 4x200m relay. In the evening, the only college event is the sprint medley relay. The high school athletes are showcased in the girl's high jump, boy's pole vault, long jump, spring medley relay, distance medley relay and 4x400m relay. Saturday is the final day of the weekend as the morning session includes the women's discus and men's high jump on the college side with high school events starting at 8:15 a.m. with the 3200m run along with the girl's pole vault, boy's shot put, triple jump, 4x800m relay and 4x100m relay.
In the afternoon, the field events start at noon with the women's pole vault and include the men's discus, women's high jump, shot put and long jump. The running events begin at 12:15 with the 400m hurdles followed by the 4x200m relay and distance medley relay. Also occurring at the end of Saturday are the 4x100m relay, 100m hurdles, high school 1600m run, 100m dash, 1,500m run, mile and 4x400m relay.
