Hear from Head coach Mack Brown on Wednesday, Aug. 29 to cap off action-packed first class day

The first day of class on the Forty Acres promises to provide a spirited, Texas-style welcome to all students. On Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 4 p.m., the Texas Exes Student Chapter rolls out the welcome mat to students at the 2012 Orange and White Welcome at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center. At 6:15 p.m., head across the street to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the Big Yell! featuring Mack Brown & the Texas Football Town Hall Meeting. All of the day's events are FREE for UT students. The Orange and White Welcome offers FREE barbecue, local area discounts, giveaways and more for all students interested in joining the Texas Exes Student Chapter. The Big Yell!, presented by the Texas Exes Spirit & Tradition Council, kicks off at 6:15 p.m. with giveaways, live appearances by Bevo and Smokey the Canon, the biggest flag in Texas and will highlight UT traditions on the massive jumbotron. The event will be capped off by the inaugural Texas Football Town Hall Meeting featuring Football head coach, Mack Brown, where he will address the upcoming season and answer questions previously submitted by students via Twitter. Deadline to submit your question is Friday, Aug. 24 at noon Central. Winners will be contacted by UT Athletics on Tuesday, Aug. 28 with further instructions. Winners must be currently enrolled at UT Austin and present a valid UT student ID. Enter through gates 14 or 16, which will open at 5:45 p.m. Come early, be loud, stay late, and wear orange!
