At The University of Texas, we truly have the best fans in the country. UT fans are passionate and respectful -- and they are also generous. In the past three years alone, loyal Longhorns have donated 10,000 lbs. of food at various UT Athletics events.
And we need your help again to fight hunger in our community by participating in Hoops for Hunger month.
This February, the Texas Men's and Women's Basketball teams are asking fans to bring non-perishable food items to their home games. All non-perishable food items that are collected will be donated to Central Texas area food banks. Area food banks need 60 lbs. of food to feed a family of four for one week, but just one item can help feed families throughout Central Texas.
Bring your non-perishable food items to the game and drop them in the boxes/barrels as you enter the Frank Erwin Center. The first opportunity to donate will be Sunday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. when your Texas Women's Basketball team takes on Texas Tech.
