The 22nd-ranked University of Texas men’s cross country team returns to action on Friday at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational in Madison, Wis., and on Saturday at the Concordia Invitational in nearby Cedar Park, Texas.
The Wisconsin adidas Invitational will be held at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course with representation from 46 schools in two men’s races. The Championship Race begins at noon Central, while the ‘B’ Race starts at 2 p.m. Central.
The highly-competitive field features eight of the top 13 ranked schools in the nation. The host Badgers are the top-ranked team in the country.
The Horns will be running their top runners for the first time of the season in the Championship Race as junior Ryan Dohner, senior Kyle Merber, and sophomore Mark Pinales make their respective season debuts. Senior Rory Tunningley, who paced Texas at the Greater Louisville Classic on Sept. 29, and sophomore Craig Lutz – last season’s top finisher in all UT races – round out Texas’ projected top five.
Freshman Brady Turnbull and sophomore Blake Williams will run in the ‘B’ Race at 2 p.m. Central.
Texas will try for a third consecutive title in the 5K Concordia Invitational, held on the campus of Cedar Park High School. Texas State and Texas-Pan American join Texas as the three Division I teams out of 11 total competing in the event hosted by Concordia University.
Freshman David Anamosa, senior CJ Jessett, junior John McNamara, junior Kevin Rayes, sophomore Kyle Thompson and freshman Shaun Van der Walt will represent UT in Cedar Park on Saturday.
