Manzano completes world championship debut
OSAKA, Japan -- University of Texas junior Leo Manzano now has the experience needed for a strong run at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing next August. Facing some of the fastest professional athletes in the world, Manzano completed the 1,500-meter run in three minutes, 45.97 seconds at the 2007 International Athletics Association Federation (IAAF) World Championships. The Marble Falls, Texas, native finished 13th in the second heat in Osaka, Japan on Saturday, Aug. 25. Manzano returns to the U.S. for the start of the 2007 Men's Cross Country season. The Longhorns' first meet is Baylor University's Bear Invitational on Friday, Aug. 31 in Waco, Texas.
