Signee Fortson qualifies for IAAF World Youth Championships 400m final
OSTRAVA, Czech Republic -- Texas men's track and field signee Danzell Fortson advanced through the first two rounds of the 400-meter dash at the 2007 International Athletics Association Federation (IAAF) World Youth.
The Fort Worth, Texas native had the fastest time in the third heat (47.71 seconds) in the opening round on Wednesday, July 11. The two-time Texas UIL Champion followed that with a 47.70-second performance in the semifinal on Thursday, July 12.
As the only American in the quarter-mile finals field, Fortson will compete for the world junior championship on Friday, July 13 at 5:15 (local time). The USATF Junior Olympic Champion has the fourth fastest time in the field of finalists.
