Sunday, June 26 AUSTIN, Texas - A group of current, former and incoming Longhorns will take to the track this week at the 2011 U.S.A. Track and Field Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon from Thursday-Sunday, June 23-26. Sophomores Marquise Goodwin, Hayden Baillio and junior Jacob Thormaehlen will be the current Longhorn contingent competing in the senior sections. In the long jump, Goodwin has two U.S. Junior titles to his name along with the 2009 world junior crown. Baillio and Thormaehlen, fresh off First Team All-America performances at the NCAA Championships, will compete in the shot put. In addition, freshman Will Nation will run in the juniors 10,000m and incoming freshman Aaron Scott will compete in the juniors 100m and 200m. Texas Exes competing will be Leo Manzano and Kyle Miller in the 1,500m, Andra Manson in the high jump, Tevan Everett in the 800m and Trey Hardee in the 110m hurdles and long jump. While the meet serves as the qualifier for the World Championships, Hardee has already earned a spot in the decathlon as he is the reigning world champion in the event. World Champions are given an automatic berth to the following world meet. The top three finishers in the seniors section will earn a spot on the U.S. Team for the IAAF World Championships held in Daegu, Korea, August 27-September 4. The top two finishers in the juniors races will get a spot on USA's junior team which will compete at the Pan Am Junior Championships, July 22-24 in Miramar, Fla.
