This Weekend
The University of Texas plays host to the NCAA Midwest Regional Track and Field Championships this weekend at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the UT campus. The meet will be contested on Friday and Saturday, May 26-27. The NCAA Midwest Regional meet is one of four regional meets being held this weekend. The others are the East regional meet at North Carolina A&T State University, the Mideast Regional at the University of Tennessee and the West Regional at Brigham Young University.
Tickets
All-session passes are available for $15 for adults and $10 for youth. Single-day admission is $10 for adults and $7 for youth.
A Chance to Qualify
Student-athletes must have earned regional-qualifying marks in their respective events to participate in the NCAA regional meet, which, in turn, provides student-athletes the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships scheduled for June 7-10 in Sacramento, Calif. Student-athletes have the opportunity to earn NCAA automatic-qualifying marks in the 10,000 meters and the decathlon during the regular season and are not required to post qualifying marks at a regional meet. The top five finishers in each event at the regional meet qualify for participation in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The NCAA may also award a minimum of five at-large bids in each event for the national championship meet
Texas to Compete in 13 Events
Texas qualified student-athletes for competition in 13 events. Notably, senior Trey Hardee (Birmingham, Ala.) and junior Donovan Kilmartin (Eagle, Idaho) have already qualified for NCAA participation in the decathlon.
