Kilmartin named Longhorn P.R.I.D.E. Student-Athlete of the Month
AUSTIN, Texas -- Senior track and field athlete Donovan Kilmartin (Eagle, Idaho) was tabbed as the Longhorn P.R.I.D.E. Student-Athlete for the month of April. The senior petroleum engineering major earned the honor for his outstanding work in the classroom, on the track and in the Austin community. On the track, Kilmartin won his third national championship, defending his 2006 NCAA title in the heptathlon in March. The six-time All-American helped the Longhorns to its highest team finish and tally the second highest team score in UT history. At the Big 12 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, Kilmartin won his third consecutive heptathlon and nearly reset his own conference point total record with his 2007 score. Academically, Kilmartin is a three-time recipient of the Athletics Director Award and earned first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors.
