March 20, 2011
PUNTA UMBRIA, Spain - UT track and field signee Craig Lutz finished 29th out of 109 competitors in the junior race at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, Sunday in Spain. Lutz, who finished the 8k race in 24:02, was the top American finisher in the race. He qualified for the world meet after placing third at the USA Junior XC Championships in February. Lutz was the top high school finisher in that race. Lutz's 29th-place finish adds to his list of accolades that include two Texas 5A Cross Country Championships, the 2009 Nike Cross Nationals Championship and a third-place finish at the 2010 Nike Cross Nationals.
