Manson earns second consecutive Big 12 Athlete of the Week honor
IRVING, Texas -- Senior high jumper Andra Manson (Brenham, Texas) earned his second consecutive Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor for his record-tying performance at the 2007 Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Manson posted his nation-leading clearance of 7-7.75 (2.33m) in winning the event and bettering his automatic qualifying height from an earlier meet this season. The two-time national champion tied Texas ex Mark Boswell's school record, set in 2000 at the same facility, the Randal Tyson Track and Field Center. The five-time All-American was cited last week after winning the high jump at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational. This marks the fourth time in his career he has earned the top weekly honor in the league. Third-ranked Texas boasts a total of three weekly selections for the 2007 season, as senior Donovan Kilmartin (Eagle, Idaho) was named the top athlete in the conference after automatically qualifying and winning the heptathlon at the Roger Cox Multi's Meet on January 26, 2007.
