Dual Threats: February 9 (Michael Huff)

Hey Longhorn fans,

I'm back again from the Big Apple. First, let me start off by congratulating my teammate Quincy Boles, who ended up fourth in the 60 meter dash at Madison Square Garden last night. What an atmosphere.

As for my race today, it didn't go quite as I had planned. I wanted to go out and run a great race, but I got a little overanxious and false-started. Unfortunately, that meant that I was disqualified from the race.

Obviously, I'm a little disappointed, but I am relieved that it happened here and not at the Big 12 Championships. I'll definitely use it as a learning experience and it is all a part of me getting used to being on the track and competing, especially at this level.

I have to be honest though, the feeling I had after false-starting was the same feeling I get after giving up a touchdown, so I know I don't want it to happen again.

On another note, I'm done competing for the weekend and will continue to cheer on my teammates when they perform. We'll be here until Sunday night, so I think we are planning to do some sight seeing tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to.

Then, it will be back to Austin and back to work. I want to put in a great week of practice before going to the prestigious Tyson Invitational next weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. That is the location for the NCAA Indoor Championships, so it will be good preparation for later in the season.

I'm focused on Big 12's right now, but I'll be working hard to try and help the Longhorns make it back to Fayetteville at the end of the season.

Until then, Hook 'Em Horns,
Michael
