Longhorns return to Fayetteville for Razorback Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Men's Track & Field team will compete at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Friday and Saturday. The Longhorns were in Fayetteville two weeks ago when they opened the 2012 season with a dual meet loss, 89-81, against the University of Arkansas. This time around Texas will see season debuts from several of its top athletes. Maston Wallace will compete in the pole vault for the first time since 2009. Marquise Goodwin ran the 60m dash two weeks ago but will add his strongest event, the long jump, to his schedule this weekend. Freshman cross country All-American, Craig Lutz makes his indoor track collegiate debut as well while Patrick McGregor will also run in the mile with Lutz and Sheroid Evans will run the 400m dash for the first time. The field at the Razorback Invitational will be a very competitive one as No. 5 Texas is among nine ranked teams to attend including four of the top five teams and six of the top 10. They will go head-to-head with No. 1 Arkansas, No. 3 LSU, No. 4 Florida State, No. 7 Stanford, No. 10 Arizona, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 17 Iowa and No. 23 Georgia among others. Friday's schedule begins at 12:10 p.m. for the men with the heptathlon while the men's running events start at 6:45 with the 60m run and field events at 7 p.m. with the shot put. Saturday's schedule features the first events at 11:20 a.m. with the 3000m run. The heptathlon will continue at 12 noon with the weight throw also to take place at that time.
