Men's Cross Country has strong showing at Grass Routes Grand Prix
Sept. 30, 2011 AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Men's Cross Country B Team finished third in the Grass Routes Grand Prix at the Morris Williams Golf Course on Friday. Rory Tunningley finished fifth overall with a time of 25:43 in his first competitive cross country race since 2009. Tunningley spoke about the team's performance, saying "I think our team just wanted to come out here and put in a good effort before our next meet in Wisconsin." The extremely hilly course and the 8:15 pm start time, presented a unique challenge and atmosphere to all of the competitors. "I thought it was fantastic, the atmosphere out here was really nice," said head coach John Hayes. "It's early in the season, but it was a great atmosphere. We had some teams and some great individuals that were running hard and I hope it's a tradition that we can continue." The Men's Cross Country team races again on Friday, Oct. 15 at the Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wisc.
