June 11, 2010
EUGENE, Ore. -- Texas junior Jamal Wilson tied for 13th place in the high jump at the NCAA Championships on Friday. Wilson was one of five athletes to tie for 13th with a clearance of 6-10.75.
After passing at the opening height of 6-8.75, Wilson cleared 6-10.75 on his first attempt. Then, at 7-0.25, he missed on his first attempt, but appeared to have a clearance on his second attempt. Wilson successfully cleared the bar and hit the mat only to have the bar trickle off the stanchions seconds later. He would miss on his third attempt, ending up in the tie for 13th place.
Four Longhorns will be in action on Saturday, the final day of the NCAA Championships, with freshman Keiron Stewart in the 110-meter hurdles, freshman Marquise Goodwin in the long jump and sophomore Jacob Thormaehlen and freshman Hayden Baillio in the shot put.
