Baillio's personal-best throw leads Men's Track and Field at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. -- Sophomore thrower Hayden Baillio posted a personal-best mark in the shot put of 62-5.25 (19.03m) as the Texas Men’s Track and Field team completed competition at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Baillio used the throw to finish fifth in the invitational section of the shot put and was the top collegiate finisher. Placing sixth was Texas junior Jacob Thormaehlen with a throw of 59-5.75 (18.13m).

Friday night, freshman Ryan Dohner finished third in the ‘Open A’ section of the 5,000 meters in a time of 13:56.94. Fellow freshman Will Nation posted a 16th-place finish in the ‘Open C’ division, running a 14:26.50.

In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Keiron Stewart clocked a wind-aided 13.46, finishing fourth in the invitational division. 

The Texas 4x100-meter relay squad of Alex Williams, Trevante Rhodes, Marquise Goodwin and D.J. Monroe finished third in the invitational section of the event, clocking 39.74. In the 100 meters, Rhodes clocked 10.58 to finish fourth, Goodwin ran 10.62 placing fifth and Monroe posted a time of 10.64 for an eighth-place finish. Rhodes also clocked 21.25 to finish third in the 200 meters.

In the jumps, freshman Mark Jackson placed seventh in the invitational triple jump with a leap of 50-8 (15.45m) and senior Jamal Wilson cleared 7-0.50 (2.15m) in the high jump to finish 11th.


 

 

The Texas men return to action next Saturday, April 23 at Alumni Gold in Baton Rouge, La. and the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas.
