Webb posts 3,772 points on first day of Texas Relays decathlon
April 1, 2009 AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas senior Andrew Webb posted 3,772 points in the first day of the decathlon at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by State Farm. Webb was 50 points off his first-day personal best and stands in eighth place after five events. Webb opened the day by scoring 827 points with an 11.15 in the 100 meters. He added 778 points in the long jump with a mark of 6.85m (22-5.76). Webb set a new personal best by over a meter in the shot put with a mark of 13.11m (43-0.25) to score 674 points. He notched 822 points in the high jump and 671 points in the 400 meters to finish the day. On the track, junior Victor Gras clocked a 14:39.21 to finish fourth in the 5,000 meters. Freshman Will Ahearn placed ninth in the event with a time of 15:03.97. In the B section of the 3,000-meter Steeplechase, sophomore Rob Wetzel overcame an early fall to finish second in 9:32.66, while sophomore Brad Lowry placed sixth in 9:59.44. 3,000-Meter Steeplechase (Section B) 5,000 Meters
