COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The Texas men's track and field team won five events at the Texas A&M dual meet, but fell to the Aggies, 92-64. Junior Logan Gonzales led the Horns with a victory in the mile with a personal-best 4:09.82
Freshman Marquise Goodwin won the long jump with a 25-7.50 (7.81m), which is tied for the third-longest jump in the nation this year. He also finished second in the 60 meters with a 6.82 despite stumbling out of the blocks.
Also, in the field, freshman Hayden Baillio won his second consecutive shot put after throwing a provisional-qualifying 60-11.25 (18.57m), which ranks as the fourth-best throw in the nation this year. Junior Jamal Wilson took his first high jump as a Longhorn with a clearance of 6-9 (2.06m), while freshman Hayden Clark won the pole vault behind a mark of 16-1.75 (4.92m).
The Longhorns will continue with competition next weekend when they return to College Station for the Texas A&M Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 29-30.
