Scouting Krychev: One of the top prep throwers in the state of California... two-sport letterman who joined the Longhorns in January of 2007.
Prior to Texas
· Four-year letterwinner in football and three-time letterman in track and field at Monte Vista High School... coached by Dave Spitz in track and field.
· Initially set the MVHS school record in the discus with a throw of 180-9 (55.10m) at the 2007 Stanford Invitational.
· Captured his second North Coast Section Meet of Championships shot put title with a throw of 172-11 (52.70m) in 2007.
· Finished second in the shot put, tossing a personal best 62-11 (19.18m) at the California high school state championships meet in 2007... a fourth-place finish in the discus with a persoal best distance of 183-4 (55.89m).
· Selected team captain as a senior and named to the 2005-06 and 2006-07 "Top Athletes in the Bay Area" list.
· Played defensive end and right tackle under football coach Craig Bergman... team reached North Coast Section 4A playoffs in 2006-07.
Personal
Born on Oct. 6, 1988 son of Alex and Suzana Krychev father, Alex (Kraitchev), won a silver medal in weightlifting for Bulgaria in the 1972 Olympics has a half sister named Olia... undecided on major.
