•Four-year letterman in track and field at Sam Barlow
• Two time team Most Valuable Player
• Captain of track and field team during each year in high school
• Named the 2011 Gatorade Oregon Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year
• During 2010-2011 season, he set three national records: high school indoor shot put record with a throw of 77-2.75 (23.53), the U.S. prep indoor record by throwing a 16- pound shot 63-11 (19.48), and the national high school record in the discus with a throw of 237-6 (72.36m)
• Claimed the Oregon Class 6-A State titles in both shot and discus in 2011
• Set the national sophomore class record in the discus with his personal- best throw of 202-6 (61.72m) in 2009
• Won the gold medal in the shot put at the 2009 IAAF World Youth Championships in Italy with a meet record mark of 70-9 (21.56m)
• Won the silver medal in the discus at the 2009 IAAF World Youth Championships
• State champion in shot put and discus as a freshman and senior
• Won National Championship in shot put, discus, and javelin
