TULSA, Okla. -- University of Texas junior Luis Diaz Barriga (Cordoba, Mexico) and freshman Rook Schellenberg (Dallas, Texas) each won two pre-qualifying round matches Saturday to highlight the Longhorns' opening day at the Polo Ralph Lauren ITA All-American Championships.

Diaz Barriga scored an easy 6-1, 6-0 win over Oral Roberts' Clemens Geercken in the opening round before defeating Nebraska's Adrian Szatmary, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, in the round of 64. A win in Sunday's round of 32 would move Diaz Barriga into Monday's qualifying round.

Schellenberg defeated Oklahoma's Ondrej Kacmar, 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 128 before rallying for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 round-of-64 victory over Michigan State's Adam Monich. A Sunday victory for Schellenberg also would land him in Monday's qualifying draw. Play continues on Sunday at 11 a.m. CDT.
