ITA All-American Central
The Longhorns begin competition in the nine-day ITA All-American Championships on Saturday at the Michael D. Cast Tennis Center, on the campus of the University of Tulsa.
Prequalifying Singles will makeup the first two days of the event and feature three Longhorns – senior Ben Chen, sophomore Jacoby Lewis and sophomore Joey Swaysland. The Prequalifying field of 256 at-large players will need to win four rounds in order to advance to Qualifying. Just 16 players will advance from Prequalifying to Qualifying.
Senior Chris Camillone, junior David Holiner and junior Sudanwa Sitaram will start tournament play in Qualifying Singles, beginning Oct. 1. Players from the field of 128 will need to win three rounds to advance to the Main Draw Singles – 16 players will advance out of the Qualifying round.
No. 42 sophomore Soren Hess-Olesen and No. 46 senior Daniel Whitehead have an automatic entry into Main Draw Singles. Whitehead was the last Longhorn in the competition last year at the ITA All-Americans, advancing to the Qualifying Round of 32.
Doubles play in Tulsa will begin in the Qualifying round of 64 teams on Oct. 1, including No. 38 Ben Chen and Daniel Whitehead. Teams will need to win three rounds to advance to the Main Draw. As a returning top-10 team, No. 8 David Holiner and Chris Camillone have an automatic draw in the Main Draw Doubles beginning on Oct. 4.
