SKILLMAN, N.J. - The University of Texas men's tennis team has four singles players and two doubles teams listed in the Campbell's/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason Rankings.
Sophomore Soren Hess-Olesen is the highest-ranked Longhorn, debuting at No. 42 after posting a 20-13 singles record last season. The native of Denmark finished last spring as the No. 80 singles player in the ITA rankings after playing the entire season in UT's No. 1 position.
The Longhorns also return senior Daniel Whitehead (No. 46), junior David Holiner (No. 99) and junior Sudanwa Sitaram (No. 109) for the 2012-13 season.
Holiner and senior Chris Camillone pair up as the No. 8 doubles team in the nation this preseason. Holiner and Camillone went 18-11 last season to finish No. 39 in the ITA rankings. Whitehead and senior Ben Chen begin the season as the No. 38 doubles team.
Team rankings will not be released until the next poll on Jan. 3, 2013.
Texas opens the Fall season this weekend with a split squad at the Midland (Texas) Invitational and the Olympia Fields Country Club Invitational in Chicago.
