NCAA Men's Tennis singles and doubles draws released

ATHENS, Ga. -- University of Texas freshman Dimitar Kutrovsky will take on Pepperdine's 16th-ranked Andre Begemann in the opening round of the 64-player NCAA singles draw, as announced Tuesday by the NCAA.

Kutrovsky will meet Begemann on Wednesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. CT at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The winner advances to Thursday's NCAA round of 32.

Kutrovsky (Sofia, Bulgaria), the ITA South Central Region Rookie of the Year, holds a 27-13 overall singles record. He earned an at-large bid to the NCAA singles tournament after ending the regular season with a No. 41 singles ranking.

Begemann, a 9-16 seed who helped lead Pepperdine to the 2006 NCAA Championship, enters the match with a 26-12 overall singles record.

Additionally, Kutrovsky and UT freshman Josh Zavala (Amarillo, Texas) will begin play in the 32-team NCAA doubles draw on Thursday against Wake Forest's ninth-ranked tandem of Mariusz Adamski and Todd Paul. The start time for that match has yet to be determined.

Kutrovsky and Zavala posted an 18-10 overall doubles record this season, including a 15-7 mark at first doubles in dual-match play.
