Corrie named to Capital One Academic All-District Team

May 19, 2011

AUSTIN, Texas - Members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) have selected Texas men's tennis senior Ed Corrie to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District Team in the men's at-large university division. Corrie, a corporate communication major, is a first-time selection to the Academic All-District Team. He now advances to the national ballot for All-America consideration.

Corrie (Harpendon, England) is a four-time All-Big 12 singles selection who collected ITA All-America and All-Big 12 doubles honors as a freshman. He is set to compete in the 64-player singles draw and the 32-team doubles draw alongside Jean Andersen next week at the NCAA Championships.

The men's at-large division features student-athletes competing in fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. The district six university division includes NCAA Division I schools in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Mississippi and Arkansas.

To be nominated for the Capital One Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve on their respective teams with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Student-athletes must reach sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution to be eligible.
