Three Longhorns earn NCAA Men's Tennis individual berths

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas sophomore Dimitar Kutrovsky and freshmen Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico earned selections Wednesday into the 64-player singles draw to be contested at the NCAA Tennis Championships from May 21-26 in Tulsa, Okla. Corrie and Damico also earned a berth into the 32-team doubles draw.

Kutrovsky (Sofia, Bulgaria), ranked No. 10 in the latest ITA singles rankings, has been awarded a 9-16 seed and has earned singles All-America status by way of his top-16 seed at the NCAA Championship. Kutrovsky will make his second NCAA singles appearance in as many seasons after totaling a 25-11 overall singles record, including a 15-6 mark in dual matches. 

Corrie (Harpendon, England) and Damico (Parker, Colo.) will make their first career NCAA singles and doubles appearances. The 2007 Co-Big 12 Freshman and Newcomer of the Year, Corrie ended the season with a No. 47 ITA singles ranking after totaling a 28-9 singles record and a 16-5 mark in dual-match play, including a 6-0 showing in Big 12 play. Damico, ranked 41st in the ITA singles rankings, compiled a 29-13 overall singles record and a 14-8 dual-match record.

Corrie and Damico, the ITA's ninth-ranked doubles tandem, enjoyed an outstanding dual-match season at No. 1 doubles, where they totaled an 11-5 record.
