April 29, 2009 AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas junior All-American Dimitar Kutrovsky has earned a third consecutive at-large bid into the 64-player singles draw to be contested May 20-25 at the NCAA Championships at Texas A&M’s Mitchell Tennis Center. Kutrovsky’s first-round opponent will be announced just prior to the NCAA singles competition. The 19th-ranked Kutrovsky (Sofia, Bulgaria) has posted a 24-11 overall singles record this season with wins over several ITA top-20 opponents, including victories over Baylor’s fourth-ranked Denes Lukacs and Texas A&M’s 17th-ranked Conor Pollock at the Big 12 Championships. Kutrovsky automatically earned ITA All-America honors a season ago by way of his top-16 ITA singles ranking. He competed in the NCAA singles draw as a freshman and fell to Pepperdine’s Andre Begemann in the opening round. Florida’s Nestor Briceno defeated Kutrovsky in the round of 64 last season. Kutrovsky and the Longhorns open the NCAA team competition on Friday, May 8 when they meet Sacred Heart in the round of 64. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Central at UT’s Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
