Men's Tennis selected to host NCAA first and second rounds

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas has earned a No. 12 national seed and will host first- and second-round action in the 2009 NCAA Championships beginning Friday, May 8 at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center. The Longhorns (19-6) will take on Sacred Heart (14-8), the Northeast Conference champion, on Friday, May 8 at 1 p.m. Central. UT also welcomes 27th-ranked Washington (14-8), who earned an at-large bid into the field of 64, and 34th-ranked Texas Tech (13-11), who will square off on May 8 at 10 a.m. Central. Ticket information will be announced later this week. The winners of the two round-of-64 matches will meet in the NCAA round of 32 on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m. Central. The winner advances to the NCAA Championships' round of 16 to be contested on Thursday, May 14 at Texas A&M's Mitchell Tennis Center, which also serves as the site for the remaining NCAA Championship rounds. Texas, who will host NCAA first and second round matches for a fourth consecutive year, finished as the NCAA runner-up in 2008 after falling to Georgia in the national title match.
