Corrie, Wiegand named to Academic All-Big 12 Men's Tennis Team

IRVING, Texas -- Texas junior Ed Corrie and senior Jon Wiegand have earned selections to the 2010 Academic All-Big 12 Conference Men's Tennis Team, the league announced Tuesday. Corrie, a communications major, earned a first-team selection after garnering second-team honors a season ago. Wiegand, a pre-medicine/economics major, earned a first-team selection. Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, 12 men's tennis players were named to the first team, while seven student-athletes earned second-team recognition. First-team members have maintained a 3.20 minimum grade-point average, either cumulatively or in each of the past two semesters, while second-team members maintained a minimum 3.0 grade-point average. All nominees, except for seniors, must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled matches. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first years of academic residence at their respective schools.
