Four Longhorns named to Academic All-Big 12 Men's Tennis Team

IRVING, Texas -- The Texas men's tennis program landed four student-athletes on the 2012 Academic All-Big 12 men's tennis team, the league announced Tuesday.

Juniors Chris Camillone and Alex Hilliard and sophomore Sudanwa Sitaram were named to the first team, while junior Daniel Whitehead earned a second-team selection.  Camillone, Hilliard and Whitehead garnered their second career Academic All-Big 12 team selections, while Sitaram picks up his first selection in his initial season of eligibility for the honor. 

Nominated by each Big 12 institution's director of student-athlete support services, a total of 21 men's tennis student-athletes were named to the team with 15 student-athletes earning first-team honors.  First-team members consist of those who have maintained a minimum 3.20 grade-point average, with second-team members earning a minimum 3.00 grade-point average.  

To qualify for the team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA either cumulatively or in the previous two semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of his team's scheduled matches. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Seniors who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except percent of participation also are eligible.
