Men's Tennis preview: No. 33 Duke, No. 1 Virginia

WHAT:  No. 4 Texas (12-1) hits the road this weekend and is set to visit No. 33 Duke (5-2) and No. 1 Virginia (14-1)

WHEN/WHERE: 
No. 4 Texas vs. No. 33 Duke – Friday, March 5, 1 p.m. Central – Ambler Tennis Stadium – Durham, N.C.
No. 4 Texas vs. No. 1 Virginia – Sunday, March 7, 11 a.m. Central – Snyder Tennis Stadium – Charlottesville, Va.

NOTE: Sunday's Texas-Virginia match will be played with a unique 13-point scoring format.  The two teams will play nine singles matches and four doubles contests with every match counting as one point.  The winning team will score a minimum of seven points.

LAST MEETING vs. DUKE:  Texas defeated Duke by a 6-1 count on March 2, 2008 in Durham, N.C.  The two teams were scheduled to play last season in Austin, though the match was canceled due to rain. 

LAST MEETING vs. VIRGINIA:  Virginia defeated Texas by a 4-3 count on March 15, 2009 in Austin. 

LAST TIME OUT:  Texas defeated SMU by a 6-1 margin on Tuesday, March 2 in Austin.

THE 2009-10 LONGHORNS
Under 10th-year head coach Michael Center, Texas features four singles starters who led the Longhorns to the NCAA title match in 2008 and to the NCAA semifinals in 2009.  Senior Dimitar Kutrovsky is off to a fast start for highlighted by an appearance at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships last November.

Junior Ed Corrie joined Kutrovsky in the singles draw at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoors.  Corrie knocked off USC’s top-ranked Steve Johnson to clinch the Longhorns’ 4-2 win over the top-ranked Trojans on Feb. 13 at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.
