Men's Tennis preview: ITA National Team Indoor Championships
WHAT: No. 18 Texas (3-1) continues its season-opening road swing with the 2007 ITA National Team Indoor Championships; the 14th-seeded Longhorns will open the tournament against third-seeded Virginia. UT is making its first appearance at the event since 2004, when it fell to Stanford and California before knocking off Tulsa.
WHERE: Midtown Tennis Club - Chicago, Ill.
WHEN: Friday, Feb. 16-Monday, Feb. 19; Texas will play Virginia on Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. Central; the 16 participating teams will play at least three dual matches throughout the tournament.
LAST MEETING AGAINST VIRGINIA: Texas rallied for a 4-3 win at Virginia, who just weeks earlier had been the nation's top-ranked team, on Feb. 12, 2006 in Charlottesville, Va. The Longhorns and Cavaliers will face off again on March 19 in Austin.
ABOUT TEXAS: UT opened the 2007 season on Sunday, Jan. 21 with a 5-2 win at SMU. The Longhorns returned to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they suffered a 5-2 loss at Michigan. Texas scored a 4-3 victory over host Tulsa on Friday, Feb. 9 before defeating No. 25 California by the same margin on Feb. 10 in Tulsa.
