AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas senior Luis Diaz Barriga is among seven athletes featured on the "Faces in the Crowd" page in the Jan. 28 issue of Sports Illustrated.

Diaz Barriga (Cordoba, Mexico) was recognized for teaming with UT freshman Kellen Damico to win the doubles draw at the ITA South Central Regional Championship last October. The doubles duo also reached the semifinals at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship last November.

Diaz Barriga's 21-match win streak was instrumental in Texas' run to the NCAA round of 16 last season. His three-set win over Boise State's Keen Feeder secured UT's 4-2 win over the Broncos in the NCAA round of 32 last May. 

Diaz Barriga totaled a 27-4 singles record and earned All-Big 12 singles honors in 2007. Diaz Barriga and the Longhorns open the 2008 dual-match season on Saturday, Jan. 26 against SMU at UT's Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
