Jan. 17, 2013 Podcast: Center Court with Michael Center [Jan. 17] No. 23 Texas vs. No. 25 Washington No. 23 Texas at No. 17 Tulsa TULSA, Okla. - No. 23 Texas men's tennis will face two nationally ranked opponents in Tulsa this weekend, starting with No. 25 Washington on Saturday and No. 17 Tulsa on Sunday. Both matches will be played at the University of Tulsa's Case Tennis Center. "It is going to be a big test," head coach Michael Center said. "We want to play our best tennis in April and May, so I don't think it is a time to build anything up bigger than it is. But we need to keep improving, we need to go out and play hard. The main thing right now is improving physically and mentally." Texas leads the all-time series against Tulsa, 12-1. Last season's home match against Tulsa was cancelled due to rain, breaking a string of 10 consecutive years the Longhorns and the Golden Hurricane have met in the regular season. The Longhorns are returning to Tulsa during the dual match season for the first time since 2011, when UT swept California and Tulsa to open the season. The Horns won their only meeting with Washington in the second round of the NCAA tournament on May 9, 2009. Last week, UT opened the dual match season with a 5-2 victory at SMU. It was the Longhorns 16th consecutive season-opening victory. In the most recent ITA rankings, the Longhorns have three ranked singles players (No. 31 Soren Hess-Olesen, No. 43 Daniel Whitehead, No. 98 Nick Naumann) and three ranked doubles teams (No. 13 Camillone / Holiner ; No. 40 Sitaram / Whitehead ; No. 41 Hilliard / Korinek).
