Men's Tennis resumes play at Hurricane Invitational
AUSTIN, Texas -- The 22nd ranked University of Texas men’s tennis team returns to the courts Saturday in the four-team Hurricane Invitational at the University of Miami. No. 8 Duke, No. 39 Miami (Fla.) and No. 48 Michigan will join the Longhorns in the event, which begins at 9 a.m. CST Saturday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center. All four teams will do battle in a “hidden” dual-match format, where the teams play in dual-match settings, though dual-match scoring is not used and the match results only count in the individuals’ singles and doubles records. Texas opens the tournament against Miami, who features 25th ranked Luigi D’Agord and 88th ranked Josh Cohen. UT will meet Duke on Sunday at 1 p.m. CST and Michigan on Monday at 8 a.m. CST. The tournament features eight players listed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings, including Texas’ 34th ranked senior Roger Gubser (Laredo, Texas) and 44th ranked sophomore Travis Helgeson (Overland Park, Kan.). Other ranked student-athletes include Duke’s ninth-ranked Ludovic Walter and 20th ranked Jonathan Stokke and Michigan’s 58th ranked Matko Maravic and 62 nd ranked Ryan Heller.
