No. 23 Men's Tennis preview: Key Biscayne Invitational
Jan. 4, 2013 Coach Center previews the 2013 roster Key Biscayne Invitational University of Texas men's tennis will begin the 2013 season at the Key Biscayne Invitational in Key Biscayne, Fla., from Sunday, Jan. 4 through Tuesday, Jan. 6. Three of the teams in the quad are nationally ranked - Denver, No. 24 LSU, No. 20 Michigan and No. 23 Texas. "This team has trained hard and has so much to prove," head coach Michael Center said. "This annual trip to Florida allows our guys to face terrific competition as we prepare for our dual-match schedule with a handful of ranked teams in the month ahead." The Invitational will be round-robin format with singles and doubles draws between individuals on the four teams. Team results will not be recorded. Singles and doubles champions will be named at the end of the event. Results will be exclusively available on TexasSports.com at the end of competition each day. Last season at the Key Biscayne Invitational, the Longhorns finished with a combined singles and doubles record of 24-6. Texas returns 10 players and added two newcomers from last season's team, which finished No. 27 in the ITA rankings. In the most-recent ITA Rankings (Jan. 4), the Longhorns have three ranked singles players (No. 31 Soren Hess-Olesen, No. 43 Daniel Whitehead, No. 98 Nick Naumann) and three ranked doubles teams (No. 13 Camillone / Holiner ; No. 40 Sitaram / Whitehead ; No. 41 Hilliard / Korinek).
