TULSA, Okla. -- Texas' three doubles pairs suffered consolation-round losses and were eliminated Friday from the ITA All-American Championship, one of three national-championship events on the college tennis schedule.
Tennessee's Davey Sandgren and J.P. Smith dealt UT senior Miguel Reyes Varela and junior Olivier Sajous an 8-3 defeat, and Rice's Christoph Muller and Bruno Rosa ousted UT sophomores Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico by an 8-6 count.
Texas juniors Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala advanced to the consolation quarterfinals after their scheduled opponents, TCU's Kriegler Brink and Zach Nichols withdrew from the tournament, but the Texas tandem suffered an 8-5 defeat in the quarterfinals to Auburn's Tim Puetz and Alexey Tsyrenov.
Texas returns to action later this month at the ITA South Central Regional Championship in College Station.
