TULSA, Okla. - The doubles team of Sudanwa Sitaram and Daniel Whitehead advanced to the third round of the Qualifying Doubles draw of the ITA All-American Championships with two wins on Tuesday.
In the first round, Sitaram and Whitehead defeated Nicholas Bjerke and Sebastian Bustamante of Loyola Marymount, 8-4, on Tuesday morning. In the afternoon session the pair defeated Oklahoma State’s Rifat Biktyakov and Richard Del-Nunzio, 9-8 and 10-8 in the tie-breaking game to advance in the draw.
Sitaram and Whitehead, whom played four matches together last spring with a 3-1 record, will face a doubles team from Clemson tomorrow.
In the Qualifying Singles draw, No. 99 David Holiner was defeated in the second round by Tulsa’s Alejandro Sanchez, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-0.
No. 42 Soren Hess-Olesen and No. 46 Whitehead will begin their singles competition in the Main Draw on Thursday.
