Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational
MIDLAND, Texas - In his first collegiate competition, freshman Nick Naumann advanced to the finals of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational before losing to Arnau Dachs of TCU in a three-set finals match on Sunday.
Naumann defeated Rodolfo Bustamante (TCU) in the semifinals to become the third Longhorn in two years to advance to the final round of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational. Daniel Whitehead won the singles draw last season by defeating teammate Soren Hess-Olesen.
"I am very happy with the way our group played this weekend," head coach Michael Center said. "This was a great showing by Nick - it was a good start to what we expect to be a great career from him at Texas."
Olympia Fields Country Club Invitational
CHICAGO - The eighth-ranked doubles pair of senior Chris Camillone and junior David Holiner capped off an undefeated weekend at the Olympia Fields Country Club Invitational on Sunday.
Camillone and Holiner defeated Tom Jomby and Kevin Lai of Kentucky by a score of 8-6, improving their weekend record to 3-0 in doubles.
Seniors Ben Chen and Alex Hilliard lost a narrow doubles match to Jared Hilzik and Farris Gosea of Illinois, 9-8. It was Chen and Hilliard's first doubles loss of the weekend, falling to 2-1.
The Longhorns combined for a 3-1 singles record on Sunday with victories from No. 99 Holiner, Chen and Camillone. UT improved to 10-6 in singles competition at Olympia.
