Damico advances to second round at NCAA Championships

STANFORD, Calif. - Texas senior Kellen Damico posted a straight-sets win in his opening-round singles match Wednesday afternoon at the NCAA Championships.
Damico defeated Binghamton's 77th-ranked Sven Vloedgraven by a 6-3, 6-4 count in the round of 64 in the singles draw. Damico will take on Tennessee's Tennys Sandgren in Thursday's round of 32 at a time to be announced. Another win would give Damico singles All-America status.
Senior Ed Corrie suffered a 6-1, 7-6 (4) defeat to Kentucky's Alex Musialek in the opening round of the singles draw. He will compete alongside junior Jean Andersen in the opening round of the doubles draw on Thursday, when the Texas tandem will take on Cal Poly's Andre Dome and Alexander Sonesson.
