No. 4 Men's Tennis falls to Oklahoma, 4-3

NORMAN, Okla. – No. 4 Texas (13-5, 0-1 Big 12) picked up singles wins from Kellen Damico, Jean Andersen and Ed Corrie, but No. 30 Oklahoma (10-3, 1-0 Big 12) rallied for a 4-3 win over the Longhorns Friday evening in a match spanning over five hours at OU’s Headington Family Tennis Center. Texas picked up a victory at first doubles from the fifth-ranked tandem of Corrie and Damico put the Horns on the board at second singles, where he posted a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over OK’s 65th-ranked Costin Paval. Texas assumed the lead at third singles, where Andersen dealt Laurentiu Gavrila a 6-4, 6-3 defeat. The Sooners evened the match at two, as Lawrence Formentera outlasted UT sophomore Daniel Whitehead by a 7-5, 6-4 count at fifth singles. Texas’ Corrie staked the Horns to a 3-2 lead, as he defeated the Sooners’ 34th-ranked Beleleu, 7-6 (2), 6-2 at the first slot. However, Oklahoma stayed in the match at sixth singles, where Mihov defeated UT freshman Sudanwa Sitaram, 6-7 (4), 6-2, 7-6 (4). UT’s Vasko Mladenov took the first set off of Peerakit Siributwong at fourth singles, 6-4, but Siributwong rallied to take the next two sets, 7-6 (7), 7-5 to seal the victory for the Sooners
