No. 11 Men's Tennis shuts out UT Arlington 7-0

AUSTIN, Texas - The No. 11 University of Texas Men's Tennis team claimed the doubles point and won all six singles matches to post a 7-0 shutout victory over UT Arlington Saturday afternoon at Penick-Allison Tennis Center. The Longhorns improved to 9-3 on the 2012 dual match season, while the Mavericks fell to 1-4. Texas secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles spots. UT's duo of Chris Camillone and David Holiner won four straight games to seal an 8-5 victory over UT Arlington's Mindaugas Celedinas and Soren Goritzka. Texas clinched the doubles point at the No. 3 doubles slot with an 8-4 win by junior Ben Chen and freshman Jacoby Lewis. In Chen's first match of the 2012 season, he continued the scoring for Texas with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 singles slot. Sophomore David Holiner dominated at the No. 3 singles spot, taking the first set 6-3. Holiner then shut out Goritzka 6-0 in the second set to put Texas up 3-0. Joey Swaysland, a first-semester freshman, clinched the victory for Texas with his 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Sudanwa Sitaram pushed Texas ahead 5-0 with his 6-4, 6-2 win over Yauheni Yakauleu in the second singles spot, improving to 8-1 on the dual match season with the victory.
Freshman Lloyd Glasspool dropped the first set in the fourth singles spot to David Subirats before fighting back to win the second set 6-4. Glasspool then beat Subirats 10-6 in the super-tiebreaker to give Texas a 6-0 lead.
Daniel Whitehead, ranked No. 69 in the nation, secured the shutout for Texas in his first match at the No. 1 singles slot. Whitehead split the first two sets with Celedinas, then clinched the shutout for the Longhorns by winning the super-tiebreaker 10-6.
