No. 15 Men's Tennis sweeps UT Arlington 7-0 in home opener

AUSTIN, Texas - The 15th-ranked Texas Longhorns improved to 5-3 in dual match play with a 7-0 sweep over the UT Arlington (1-3) on Thursday afternoon at Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
Texas has now won 18 consecutive home openers, including a 13-0 mark under head coach Michael Center. With the win, UT improved its all-time record against UT-Arlington to 5-0.
The Longhorns won all three doubles matches to take the doubles points and a 1-0 lead heading into singles play. At No. 2 doubles, Jacoby Lewis and Sudanwa Sitaram dominated Soren Goritzka and Sebastian Gomez, 8-1, surrendering only 13 total points throughout the entire match. At first-line doubles, Daniel Whitehead and Ben Chen beat UTA's duo of Yauheni Yakauleu and Carlos Arbiza, 8-1 to clinch the doubles point for the Longhorns.
Texas then won five of six first sets on its way to sweeping all six singles matches.
Sudanwa Sitaram gave up only one game in each set during his 6-1, 6-1 victory over Soren Goritzka at No. 2 singles, giving Texas a 2-0 lead. Freshman Nick Naumann, playing his first match at No. 1 singles, pushed the Longhorn lead to 3-0 after defeating Yauheni Yakauleu 6-3, 6-1.
Freshman Andrew Korinek clinched the victory for Texas at No. 4 singles with his 6-1, 6-2 win against Serbastian Erimicioiu. With his win, Korinek improved to 5-1 in dual-match play.
After shutting out UTA's Marek Pesicka 6-0 in the first set, UT's Swaysland traded games in the second set before pulling away for a 7-5 victory and giving the Longhorns their fifth match point. David Holiner dealt Carlos Arbiza a 6-3, 6-1 blow at No. 3 singles and then Jacoby Lewis fought back from a first-set loss at No. 6 singles to beat Stefan Williams 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 and clinch the 7-0 sweep for Texas.
The Longhorns play the second match of their doubleheader live on the Longhorn Network against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi tonight at 6:30 p.m. central.
