Wong, Yarrison named Big 12 Divers of the Week
IRVING, Texas -- University of Texas junior Mary Yarrison (Springfield, Va.) and freshman Mike Wong (Cerritos, Calif.) were selected Wednesday as the Big 12 Conference's Divers of the Week after turning in winning performances in meets contested last weekend. Yarrison, who receives her second consecutive Big 12 Women's Diver of the Week honor, scored a pair of first-place finishes in the one-(306.22) and three-meter (340.35) diving events on Friday, Nov. 3 at No. 9 Texas A&M. Yarrison added a second-place score of 305.03 on the one meter and a third-place score of 332.10 on the three meter against No. 14 Indiana. Wong helped Texas to victories over No. 4 California and No. 12 Indiana on Saturday, Nov. 4. Wong claimed the one-meter event with a score of 354.55 and took second on the three meter at 334.85. This is his first career selection as the Big 12 Men's Diver of the Week. Yarrison and the UT women return to action on Thursday, Nov. 30 in the Texas Invitational at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Wong and the UT men will take on No. 10 Florida on Friday, Nov. 10 in Gainesville, Fla.
