BEIJING -- Texas-Ex Aaron Peirsol claimed his 100-meter backstroke heat and placed third in the preliminary round Sunday evening at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Peirsol captured the seventh and final heat in 53.65 to land a spot in Monday's semifinals. Peirsol's semifinal heat will air live Sunday on NBC at approximately 10:01 p.m. Central.
Team USA's 400-meter freestyle relay set a new world record in Sunday's preliminary round without Texas-Ex Garrett Weber-Gale, but Weber-Gale will join the relay for Monday's finals, which will air live Sunday on NBC at approximately 10:26 p.m. Central. The relay shapes up as one of the most competitive races at the Games.
Texas-Ex Brendan Hansen is set to compete in the 100-meter breaststroke finals live on NBC at 9:30 p.m. Central.
